TikTok PK Battle Multiplier Explained: ×2/×3 Phases, the Glove, and the Mist

If you stream PK battles on TikTok LIVE, you've seen the score suddenly jump far faster than the gifts on screen seem to justify. That's not a glitch — it's a multiplier. Multipliers and booster cards are the single most misunderstood part of PK battles, and misreading them costs matches. This guide explains exactly what each one does: the ×2/×3 multiplier phases, the glove booster, and the mist card — plus how to time them as a streamer, and where a tool like PKTOK fits in.

What a multiplier phase actually is (×2 and ×3)

During a PK battle, TikTok can open a multiplier phase: a limited window in which gift points count for more than their normal value toward the battle score. A ×2 phase doubles the points a gift contributes; a ×3 phase triples them.

Three things about multiplier phases that streamers often get wrong:

  • They are match-level. The multiplier applies to the battle itself, not to one gifter or one side's account. While the window is open, qualifying points on the board are multiplied for that match.
  • They multiply battle points, not coins. Nobody pays less or more for a gift. The same gift simply moves the PK score further while the window is active. The coin value of the gift never changes.
  • They are timed windows. A phase runs for a set stretch of the match and then ends. A gift that lands one second after the window closes counts at normal value. The windows we've measured have run roughly 30 to 50 seconds, but treat that as approximate — TikTok owns these mechanics and can change them at any time.

This is why two nearly identical gifts can move the score by wildly different amounts in the same battle — one landed inside a window, the other didn't.

Booster cards: the glove and the mist

On top of multiplier phases, PK battles have booster cards — items a host can play mid-match to change how the fight works for a short time. The two you'll meet constantly are the glove and the mist.

The glove booster (up to ×5 for about 30 seconds)

The glove is the heavyweight. When it's played, it opens a short window — around 30 seconds — in which incoming gifts on that side can count for up to ×5 of their normal battle points. It isn't a flat multiplier applied to every gift: TikTok describes it as a chance of a ×5 hit, and in the raw battle data it shows up as a "critical" flag on individual gifts rather than as a fixed match-wide value.

Key details:

  • Duration: roughly 30 seconds. It's short by design — the whole point is a burst.
  • Per gift, not per match: the ×5 lands on individual gifts inside the window, which is why two similar gifts in the same glove window can move the bar by very different amounts.
  • It sits on top of the match state: a glove landing during a hot phase of the battle is where scores swing hardest, which is exactly why experienced hosts don't spend their gloves in the first minute.

One honest caveat: the exact numbers here — the ×5, the 30 seconds, how many gloves a match allows — are TikTok's, not ours, and TikTok adjusts them. If what you see on your screen disagrees with this guide, your screen is right.

The mist card (hidden opponent score)

The mist (or fog) card does no math at all — it plays with information. When it's active, the opponent's score is hidden behind fog on the battle bar. You can see that they're scoring; you can't see how much.

The mist is a psychology tool. It stops the other side from pacing their pushes against your exact number, and it makes "we're safe, relax" reads impossible. Many late-match upsets happen under mist, because the leading side eases off a lead they can no longer verify. (PKTOK, for what it's worth, keeps calculating the opponent's points from the gift stream during mist and can show the running number to you in a separate overlay widget — the fog hides the bar, not the underlying gift events.)

Timing advice for streamers

To be clear about what this section is: it's match strategy for you, the host — how to read the board and pace your own match. What your viewers do is entirely their decision, and none of the advice below is about changing that.

  • Know the shape of the match before it starts. Multiplier phases follow the battle's structure. If you know roughly when the ×2/×3 stretches tend to arrive, you can plan around them instead of reacting in panic.
  • Narrate the match accurately. Saying what's happening on the board — a window is open, a glove is running, the mist is up — is ordinary match commentary, the same way a sports commentator calls a power play. State the facts and move on.
  • Don't spend your gloves early. A glove in minute one, against a sleepy opponent, wins you a lead you'll have to defend for the whole match. A glove held for the final stretch — ideally overlapping a multiplier phase — is much harder to answer.
  • Keep one answer in reserve. If the opponent still has gloves and you don't, they dictate the ending. Track their uses the way you track the score.
  • Under mist, play the plan, not the bar. If you can't see their score, assume you're behind by a little and keep executing. The classic mist loss is the team that relaxed.

Where PKTOK fits in

PKTOK is an independent tool for TikTok LIVE streamers, built mostly around PK battles. One of the things it does is detect booster events in real time: when a ×2/×3 multiplier phase opens or a glove is played, PKTOK can automatically fire a full-screen video of your choosing on your stream — your own clip, at exactly the moment the whole room is watching the battle bar. It runs as a browser source in TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS, and once it's set up there's nothing to click mid-match.

One limit worth stating plainly, since it's the kind of thing you'd otherwise discover mid-battle: a multiplier that is already running when a match begins isn't announced anywhere in TikTok's data stream, so no tool can detect it — ours included. Multipliers that start during a match do come through.

For honesty's sake, PKTOK can trigger a video on viewer entrance (including Guardian and Enigma), a new follower, MVP, PK boosters (×2/×3 and glove), Snipe, level-up (Lv.10+), a specific gift or coin threshold, and manual play from the console.

FAQ

Does a ×2 or ×3 multiplier make gifts cost more?

No. The coin price of every gift stays exactly the same. A multiplier only changes how many battle points a gift contributes to the PK score while the window is open.

Is the glove booster the same thing as a multiplier phase?

No. A multiplier phase (×2/×3) is a match-level window that applies to the battle as a whole. The glove is a card played into the match: for about 30 seconds it lets incoming gifts on that side count for up to ×5, hitting gift by gift rather than as one flat match-wide value.

Can the glove and a multiplier phase be active at the same time?

Yes — and that overlap is when scores move the most. This is why glove timing matters more than glove count: gloves fired at random usually lose to fewer gloves fired into the right windows.

What does the mist card actually hide?

The opponent's score on the battle bar. It doesn't change any points and doesn't block gifts — it removes information, so the other side can't pace their pushes against an exact number.

Does PKTOK play a video when someone sends a gift?

Yes. Assign a finished clip to a specific gift, a coin threshold or the fallback gift rule. PKTOK also includes built-in Rose, Heart Me and Doughnut gift clips. New followers can trigger a video too.

Do I need to download anything to use PKTOK during battles?

No download. PKTOK runs as a browser source inside TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS. You add the link once, and the booster detection and full-screen videos work automatically during your battles.

Try it on your next battle

Every PKTOK feature is free for everyone right now, no card required. From 1 November 2026 every account gets 6 hours of full access — the clock only runs while you're actually live, it never expires, and if it runs out mid-broadcast that broadcast still finishes. After that it's €15/month (Normal) or €20/month (VIP), or €135 and €180 paid yearly, because you pay for 9 months and get 12; if you don't subscribe, your account and your videos stay and only the overlay stops. If you want your own full-screen clip to hit the stream the moment a glove drops, you can set it up at pktok.com in a few minutes.

PKTOK is an independent tool. It is not a product of TikTok Pte. Ltd. or ByteDance Ltd., is not affiliated with them, and is not endorsed, sponsored, or approved by them.
